Following is a brief biography of the directors:
They say “children learn what they live”... Raised by the founder of Fun in the Sun, Rob grew up experiencing firsthand the camps and after school programs that his mother ran. From the time he was a teenager, Rob was helping his mom out at Fun in the Sun as a counselor, continuing to assist the camp throughout his early adulthood. Even after entering the corporate world, Rob continued impacting youth through mentoring and volunteering. In 2017, he left the corporate world returning as lead for the Plymouth Meeting site, transitioning to a Director in 2018. Rob has been married for over 15 years and has three children, Aleah, Robert & Luke – the older two having been campers since the age of 5.
Bonnie has been a teacher for over 33 years. She is the founder of Summit Nursery School and After School program. For 25 years, until 2013 she was the kindergarten teacher at Plymouth Meeting Friends School. She began the program that has grown into Fun in the Sun 29 years ago. She has two adult children, Robert and Kristin, who both grew up with Fun in the Sun and have themselves worked as camp counselors.
Dora, who was born in Argentina, was formerly an art/play therapist and then a kindergarten and art teacher where she taught for 18 years at Plymouth Meeting Friends School. In 2009, Dora retired from teaching and is working full time as an artist at Dora Ficher Art, and the summers at Fun in the Sun. She joined Fun in the Sun 28 years ago. She has an adult son, Jonathan, who grew up with Fun in the Sun, and worked as a camp counselor and swimming instructor while in college.
Amy Coverdale has been working as a pre-school teacher for the past 16 years. She has also worked with children as a summer camp counselor, and a nanny. She believes creating a loving, trusting environment for children to thrive, is key. Her passion is helping children learn and grow by exploring nature and the world around them. This is Amy's fourth year with Fun in the Sun.
Amy is married with 3 children, David, Chase and Takoda. She has lived in the area for most of her life, and enjoys being active in the community.
